The Irrational Fear of Nothing from Paul Trillo

Follow a paranoid man who tries to overcome his anxieties.

“Paul Trillo directed a short movie titled The Irrational Fear of Nothing, which follows the daily life of a nevrotic and paranoid man named Terry. The camera, always behind the back of the characters, follows Terry during his wanderings in Manhattan streets, and surprises him in his memories and irrational thoughts. By remembering his past through a mental time machine, he tries to overcome his anxieties.”

    Tytus Brzozowski

Architect and watercolorist. He graduated from the Faculty of Architecture of the Warsaw University of Technology. He also studied and worked in Finland where he was searching for severe Nordic art and design. He has been working in Jems Architects for five years. Tytus Brzozowski presents the city of his dreams - full of decorative buildings, narrow streets and soaring towers. Using the elements of architecture and landscape that are characteristic for Warsaw, he creates new worlds that, despite its fairy character, are still local. He looks for stratifications of history, collates buildings from different places and times. In the paintings of Tytus Brzozowski one can find intriguing, surreal elements, hidden threads and events.

    Paintings by Rob Rey

Originally from a suburb north of Chicago, Rob Rey hiked across New England on the Appalachian Trail before going on to study at the Rhode Island School of Design, graduating there with a BFA in Illustration. Rob continues to reside in Providence, Rhode Island.

While his foremost passion is for learning of any kind, Rob’s interests are frequently peaked by both natural sciences like astronomy and physics as well as social sciences like psychology and sociology. These interests commonly influence his work, as do a multitude of inspiring artists from classical art to golden age illustration and contemporary representational art.

Through his love affair with the medium of oil paint, he strives to make pictures that are not only beautiful but thought to provoke as well. Careful attention to edges and working “wet into wet” are important to getting the look Rob loves most, but above all, he feels that a successful painting must convey emotion in order to connect with the viewer in a lasting way. His Twitter, Instagram and Tumblr.

Rough Illustrations of our Modern World’s Problems

Michal Lisowski is a Polish artist based in Warsaw, that carries a very critical look to the world that surrounds him. Through his illustrations, that he makes either by hand or digitally, he shows the roughness of our world with sincerity : from horrible diseases to civil or World wars, through the oppression in some countries and the problem of global warming.

This Guy Inserts Pop Culture Characters Into Old Thrift Store Paintings

Dave Pollot is a painter in the US who brings new life to old and forgotten thrift store paintings by adding pop culture characters. He uses these old paintings to combine his interest in painting with his love for pop culture.

“Before I began repurposing discarded thrift art, I painted more ‘serious’ architectural paintings and landscapes,” writes Pollot on his website. “While I loved this, I found that I got bored very quickly (which resulted in about three completed paintings a year). Bringing new life to old art, though, brings interesting challenges with each new piece. I try to make my ‘additions’ (which are often references to and parodies of my favorite movies and video games) look as though they were there the entire time. With a world so full of serious questions, I’m just trying to let viewers laugh as they construct their own narrative from some new oil paint humorously added to some old, neglected bit of Americana.”

Be sure to check out David Irvine as well, who creates similarly awesome paintings! More info: davepollot.com | Etsy | Facebook | Instagram | Twitter (h/t: laughingsquid, demilked)
